Śrīla Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswāmī Mahārāj discusses one of Śrīla Raghunāth Dās Goswāmī’s prayers to Śrī Girirāj Govardhan.
(speaking at Śrī Rūpa-Saraswatī-Śrīdhar Sevā Kuñja, Vrṇdāvan)
Śrīla Rūpa Goswāmī Prabhu, Śrīla Jīva Goswāmī Prabhu, Śrīla Kṛṣṇadās Kavirāj Goswāmī Prabhu are very merciful to us. I am surprised how much mercy we can get by the grace of our Guru Mahārāj, Śrīla Bhakti Rakṣak Śrīdhar Dev-Goswāmī Mahārāj.
In Śrīla Raghunāth Dās Goswāmī Prabhu’s Govardhana-vāsa-prārthanā-daśakam, there is a śloka:
nirūpadhi-karuṇena śrī-śachī-nandanena
tvayi kapaṭi-śaṭho ´pi tvat-priyeṇārpito ´smi
iti khalu mama yogyāyogyatāṁ tāmagṛhṇan
nija-nikaṭa-nivāsaṁ dehi govardhana! tvam
“O worshippable Govardhan, Your dearmost Śrī Śachī Nandan Chaitanyadev has mercifully given me to Your lotus feet. I have no quality and qualification, but You cannot ignore me because Mahāprabhu has given me to You.”
Mahāprabhu had given a Govardhan-śilā and guñja-mālā to Dās Goswāmī, and Dās Goswāmī felt that through that Mahāprabhu had given him shelter at the lotus feet of Girirāj Govardhan.
“O Govardhan, You cannot ignore me. I am not qualified, I do not have any qualities, I do not have anything. I am kapaṭi-śaṭho [deceitful and insincere]. But whatever I am, you must be merciful to me because Your dearmost Chaitanyadev has given me to You.”
Dās Goswāmī Prabhu told this to Girirāj Govardhan, and my feeling and thinking is that Śrīla Guru Mahāraj is so merciful, and with the connection of Śrīla Guru Mahāraj, Śrīla Rūpa Goswāmī Prabhu and Kavirāj Goswāmī Prabhu are so merciful to us.
