An excerpt from Śrī Śrī Prabhupāder Upadeśāmṛta.
সাধুসঙ্গে থাকিয়া হরি-গুরু-বৈষ্ণব সেবা করিতে করিতেই আত্মকল্যাণ লাভ হয় । মনের খেয়ালে ভজনের অভিনয়কে ভজন বলে না, শ্রীগুরুপাদপদ্মের নির্দেশানুসারে গুরুকৃষ্ণ সুখার্থ ভজন করিলেই শুদ্ধভজন হয় ।
sādhu-saṅge thākiyā hari-guru-vaiṣṇava-sevā karite karitei ātma-kālyaṇa lābha haya. manera kheyāle bhajanera abhinayake bhajana bale nā, śrī-guru-pāda-padmera nirdeśānusāre guru-kṛṣṇa sukhārtha bhajana karilei śuddha-bhajana haya.
“Only by living in the association of the sādhus and engaging in the service of the Lord, Śrī Guru, and the Vaiṣṇavas is good fortune for the soul attained. Making a show of service according to one’s mental whims is not service; only when one renders service for the satisfaction of Guru and Kṛṣṇa according to the instructions of Śrī Gurudev does one render pure service.”
