A grand installation anniversary festival for Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharva Radha Ramanasundarjiu was held on Friday at Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha Kaikhali, Kolkata, led by Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj and an assembly of Vaishnav dignitaries from around the world.
The lectures during the festival focused on the importance of the five primary practices of devotion:
sādhu-saṅga, nāma‑kīrtana, bhāgavata-śravaṇa
mathurā-vāsa, śrī-mūrtira śraddhāya sevana
(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita: Madhya-lila, 22.124)
“(1) To associate with sadhus. (2) To chant the Name of the Lord. (3) To hear the scriptures of pure devotion. (4) To reside in a holy place. (5) To faithfully serve the Lord’s Deity.”
In particular the meaning of the word shraddhaya (faithfully) was discussed and explained to mean with full surrender and the sole motive of pleasing the Lord.
